With a Global relaunch on the slate, Max Factor’s brand team arranged for celebrity makeup artist Jan Thomas, to tour Eastern Australia. Greg Royens, the Business Manager at Myer, has advised Heat that the Myer Cosmetic team has voted Jan as the best ever make up artist to attend Myer.
Jan Thomas, international celebrity make up artist has the talent, the looks and the charm to woo most who cross his path. And it was no different on his Australian road tour of the Eastern states. The crowds loved him, store personnel found him charming and even the competitors’ sales people hung on his every word.
Having spent a week ushering Jan from state to state, Heat’s marketing team could see why he commanded so much adoration. So whilst we were delighted to have Greg Royens, Myers Business Manager, advise Heat that the Myer Cosmetic team had voted Jan as the best ever make up artist to attend Myer, we weren’t terribly surprised.
The affable Jan visited Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney, Brisbane and the Gold Coast on his whirlwind tour. The week started off with a media event for the beauty editors showcasing the relaunch of the Max Factor brand – which now highlights the ‘Backstage of the Fashion World” in a holistic advertising campaign. The flurry for Jan continued with 6 days of consumer promotion at Myers for teaching the tips and tricks of his industry, interspersed with media and radio interviews along the way.
Despite the hectic schedule, Jan proved the perfect ambassador for the brand, happily promoting Max Factor and his ‘Backstage Tour’ at Myers with every PR opportunity.
The results? A clear success! Max Factor saw over 50% more sales than what we have done from past consumer events. Max Factor also expects coverage of Jan and the relaunch to exceed $800,000 in PR. Don’t be too surprised if Jan’s face turns up in Australia again down the line!
